UK Travel Grants - Researcher Links / Newton Fund

Researcher Links Travel Grants provide financial support for early-career researchers to undertake an international research placement to strengthen links for future collaboration, build research capacity in developing economies, and enhance the researcher's career opportunities.

Researchers that reside in the UK can apply for funding to visit a university or research institution in one of the partner countries, and those residing in one of the partner countries can apply for funding to come to the UK. The mobility must occur between 01 February 2018 and 31 January 2019

PARTNER COUNTRY
Thailand. Researchers that reside in the UK can apply for funding to visit a university or research institution in Thailand, and those residing in Thailand can apply for funding to come to the UK.

DEADLINE
13 June 2017, 16.00 (UK time)

National co-funder: Thailand Research Fund (TRF)                                                
Minimum duration: 4 weeks
Maximum duration: 24 weeks

Research priorities: 1. Social Science and Humanities 2. Agriculture and Agritech 3. Climate and environment (eg. Climate change, green technology, sustainable development, ecosystem services, resource scarcity) 4. Sustainable energy for all
The call is also open to other fields of Health and Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering.

TRF will fund Thai researchers. The rates requested will be paid in Thai Baht using the exchange rate of: 43.30 THB/ GBP. Flight ticket: 70,000 THB, Preparation cost: 10,000 THB, Subsistence cost: 19,000 THB per week (As TRF is unable to grant a budget for Child-care, this is to be paid upon arrival in the UK at £21.25 per week (5% of £425 subsistence per week)) Visa cost: 6,750 THB,  Insurance cost: 2,900 THB per week, Consumables: 2812.50 THB per week
