Investigator Awards in Science
Investigator Awards in Science offer flexible funding support to researchers at all career stages working on important questions of relevance to our scientific remit.
If you're a researcher at any stage in your independent research career, for example, you may be a newly appointed lecturer, a mid-career researcher, or a senior or emeritus professor, you can apply for an Investigator Award.
Career stage: Intermediate, Senior
Type of researcher: Basic, Clinical, Public health
Where your host organisation is based: Low- and middle-income countries
Level of funding:
From under £500,000 to around £3 million
Duration of funding:
Up to 7 years
What we're looking for
The research you propose for an Investigator Award should be distinct from, and not replace, activities already supported in your host organisation or by other awards. If you're employed at an eligible core funded-research organisation, an Investigator Award should not replace or lead to a reduction in existing or planned core support.
Our reviewers will assess:
- your track record relative to your career stage and research experience with any periods of part-time work, career breaks or time out of academic research taken into account
- your standing in the field
- the importance of your research question(s)
- the feasibility of your proposal
- the suitability of your research environment.
