Malaria Experimental Genetics short course

This course is going to be held from the 15th to the 20th of March, 2015. It will be a Laboratory based advanced skills course, giving participants a working knowledge in Plasmodium experimental genetic techniques.  The course is being organised by the Wellcome Trust, and will take place at The Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. 

The course will work with both P. falciparum and P. knowlesi, in addition to the rodent model P. berghei The practical work will teach participants fundamental technologies such as transfection, genotyping and phenotyping by flow cytometry and microscopy, and will also include cutting-edge technological approaches such as using next generation sequencing to simultaneously phenotype multiple strains in parallel.

The course is aimed at young researchers and new post-doc students, registration is free and travel bursaries are available. The course will be delivered by 3 researchers from the US and UK, in addition to guest speakers from Singapore.
