- development of improved neurotropic therapeutic delivery technologies;
- development or optimization of candidate therapeutic delivery platforms;
- identification and validation of new therapeutic targets such as receptors that enable toxins or pathogens to cross the blood-brain barrier or enter neurons;
- research utilizing genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and/or bioinformatics to identify therapeutic targets;
- screening and identification of new therapeutic agents directed against neurotropic toxins or pathogens;
- preclinical efficacy and/or toxicity testing of candidate therapeutics; and lead candidate optimization.
Responsive applications must address discovery and/or development of new therapeutics against one or more of the following neurotropic agents.
This grant is worth $275,000 over the first two years, and then $300,000 per year for three additional years.
